Just after my grandson turned two I bought some Hot Wheels(r) accessories for "us" to play. I rightly assumed he was way too young for unsupervised play with these toys. He also lacked the patience for supervised play. So I boxed and stored the toys for some later date. For more than a year I never pulled the Hot Wheels out and he never asked about them.

Then about a month before his 4th birthday he asks out-of-the-blue,"pop-pop can we play TRACKS and CARS?". I was amazed he remembered. The spare 'D'-batteries to run the "booster" must have got lost during the move last year. So we had to go old-school: gavity only. A month and a half later a severe winter storm brought him to our house for an extended period. The nearby stores were closed and after opening they didn't have any 'D'-batteries. Over the several days he was here we played alot of TRACKS and CARS ... old-school.

It was no easy attempt to find some cost effective and fun solutions for Hot Wheels set-ups. It is mostly sales and marketing. While my grandson is still too young to get deeply invlolved with Hot Wheels, I have ample time to help drive his creativity and engineering abilities with this type of play. Consequently this portion of the web site will emphasize craftsmanship over product sales. That will not rule out comments on good or bad Hot Wheel products as he & I get more invlolved with Hot Wheels(r).
