President Trump is the worse communicator in a hundred years and I've had almost nothing positive to say about him, but in setting a "back to work" date he's getting a bad rap. Instead of using a generic term such as ASAP, the president chose an arbitrary date (Easter) to get the USA "back to work". In response, his detractors said that he needed to "TAKE THE VIRUS SERIOUSLY". But he doesn't stand alone in calling for the totalitarian LOCK DOWNs to end.

Similar refrains to "TAKE THE VIRUS SERIOUSLY" were given when the Texas Lieutenant Governor and Collin County Mayor spoke out about getting Texans "back to work". "TAKING THE VIRUS SERIOUSLY" should not mean run and hide. The problem is the reverse. The scared, over privileged rich people saying, "TAKE THE VIRUS SERIOUSLY" need to grow up and "TAKE THE SITUATION SERIOUSLY".

THE VIRUS IS OUT!!! It will not be contained. However many times we "flatten the curve" it will just need to be flattened again! ... and again ... and again.

We cannot commit ECONOMIC SUICIDE to keep people from getting sick. We can, however, do our best to protect the most vulnerable while the rest us take common sense measures to mitigate the spread. Unfortunately the media holds half of blame. The horrible reporting has not improved. Worse still it stands universal. Even my beloved NPR is failing. When a single death becomes inifitely repeated, all the scared sheep hear .... SOMEONE DIED. Out of the other 100 cases they do not hear about the 80 with mild symptoms or the other 19 serious, but not life threatening cases.

"SOMEONE DIED" so we need "TO TAKE THE VIRUS SERIOUSLY"! Get the facts people!! Don't tell me, "that the hospitals in New York are being overwhelmed" _ instead say, "35 out of 300 hospitals are over capacity" (a made up statistic, but hopefully you get the point). Don't tell me EVERYONE IS AT RISK! Find the commonalities. Find the greatest potential risk factors.

Let's protect the 20% at greatest risk while the other 80% WORK THE PROBLEM. That doesn't mean going to baseball games and night clubs. But it does mean doing as much normal activity as it takes to get the wheels of production rolling. That means PRODUCE MASKS HERE! PRODUCE VENTILATORS HERE! PRODUCE HOSPITALS! PRODUCE CARE GIVERS! PRODUCE THE MEANS TO FIGHT THE DISEASE! Unfortunately people will get sick. Some will die. But if we don't WORK THE PROBLEM almost everyone will die.

Economics is a numbers game. Math stuff that most people avoid. LEADERSHIP MUST TRANSCEND NUMBERS. For those who don't know ... I failed "rocket science" (advanced differential equations). I am not a math genius, but even my meager math skills are good enough to know that the odds of you winning back-to-back lotteries are better than being one of the 600 confirmed COVID-19 cases in India when the prime minister of that country locked down a population of 1.2 BILLION!! Had Mr. Modi taken the poverty rate of his country as seriously as the virus, India would have had the resources to combat the threat. Now whenever that lock down ends he will have to deal with more death than the virus would have caused ... oops WILL CAUSE SOONER OR LATER ... the virus is out ... IT WILL NEVER BE CONTAINED. Unlike small pox, polio, or the measles a vaccine WILL NEVER ERADICATE COVID-19 ; it will be like the Spanish Flu today. It will be with us in one strain or another as it mutates. THAT'S WHY WE GET ANNUAL FLU SHOTS.

!!!! COME OUT IF HIDING AND TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY !!!!

Come out and learn something. At any rate the winds of change have blown in. If our leaders fail to learn. If they fail to understand the math. If they fail to TAKE THE SITUATION SERIOUSLY the harder the winds of change will blow. Right now those clueless leaders are pushing things to blow up.
